Latinaero Magazine » Latinaero #1 is out!
As one of the very first nations to make aviation become a reality, just one century ago, Brazil deserves a special place in history, a place today largely justified by the exceptional vitality of its commercial, business and industrial aviation industry. Brazil, the « B », in today's ever present BRIC or BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa), possess the most successful aviation industry of these five countries, producing widely sold commercial, business and military aircraft, including helicopters. Unfortunately, for too long, Brazil has remained mostly famous in the eyes of foreign visitors for its sole tourist attractions: the Rio Sugar Loaf and the sunny beaches of Copacabana and Ipanema. Besides, for a long time, Brazil has never used any other work languages than Portuguese, thus losing the essential tool of international communication that the English language is. Latinaero would like to try to dissipate this narrow "vista" on Brazil and Latin America, and to show in turn, through its pages, the growing strength of a largely industrialized country which could soon represent an inspiration to the world. Today's Brazil is no longer the country of samba and football only, but also a young democracy addicted to high-tech and, especially, to aviation and space challenges. Over the months to come, Latinaero will make its best to make the vigour of the Brazilian aerospace field known to the foreign reader and, at the same time, expose the Brazilian reader at home to what happens in the rest of the aerospace world.

Brazilian FX-2 close to the end?
Currently, is admitted to the Brazilian press that the final announcement of the FX-2 winner's name will happen only in 2012. Known as favorite until recently, the Rafale may now have to face a new incursion of American lobby. Nothing is defined yet, said the new Brazilian president, Dilma Roussef. There is an expectation that an aircraft is chosen later this year, but few are betting on that hypothesis. The question is which end will have the FX-2: a plane chosen or its extinction?
